The Interpreter My name is Xena, I’m a language analyst, I work for the FBI. Coming from a foreign country I never thought that I could work for the American government. So when I was offered the job I was actually honored. My parents they are really proud of what I do but they can’t really tell everybody exactly what I do or where I work for. They want to tell the world that I’m actually saving the country. There are so many stories, so many interesting things that I have done. I mean I can talk forever. Walking to the office I can sit at my desk, translate all day, analyze or I could be called in to the director’s office and interpret for him or by an agent, we have to do a search or raid. So my typical day is actually, I have no idea what I’m getting myself into. I speak 4 languages. Most of the language analysts I work with they speak at least 2 or 3 but even one language can save the country. Without us they can’t get any information so I always tell everybody the intelligent analyst the case agent and my colleagues language analysts I tell them that we’re basically the nucleus of their case. I wanted to become an optometrist and I really I don’t even think about optometry school now so I’m still here and I’m really glad that I stayed. My name is Xena, I work for the FBI and the United States of America.
